Bees are beneficial insects that occasionally cause problems. They do, however, pose a danger to people and property if they nest near places where we live and work. Bee and wasp removal should only be performed by a trained professional.
Bees live in colonies consisting of a single queen bee and thousands of worker bees plus a few hundred males. There can be anywhere from 10,000 to well over 60,000 bees in a colony. Bees provide the needed pollination for agricultural crops and honey for consumers.
Wasps on your property constitute a serious danger to life. They are considered a huge threat and the the only means of control is extermination.
Aris Seitanidis is a beekeeper and deals only in the removal bees and the extermination of wasps. Aris will first attempt to safely remove the bees from your location and will repair and seal any areas where they may attempt future entry. Pest Controllers simply poison the bees and then charge exorbitant fees in the process.
Unfortunately there are situations where it is not always possible to remove and save the bees. Aris will always try to save Honey bees, however, if the bees are in an inaccessible part of a property e.g. in the cavity of a wall, and they cant be removed without damaging the property, as a very last resort, they will be destroyed. It really depends on how tangled up they are in the structure and how long they have been there.
If it is a honey bee swarm that is lumping together it is relatively easy to save and move the bees to a staging area bee-box. To capture a swarm, a beekeeper must first capture the queen. This is fairly easy if the bees are hanging in a clump on a tree or a branch of a shrub. Sometimes they will clump together and hang from:
* The side of a house
* A fence post
* Around the trunk of a tree
* Underneath a picnic table.
In this situation the bees are resting and waiting for the scout bees to return with good news that they have found a new home.
